End of Summer!

I am a little sad to see the last days of summer, but I am really looking forward to getting some fall weather around here. Our area was just hit by the remnants of hurricane Ike, and it was not pretty! My parents have been without power for 24 hours, and many homes and businesses here in Cape have been as well. We were lucky--the only damage we have is a few branches down in our yard.

Despite the weather, we have had a very busy few weeks! August started "school"--a toddler program at the University. He goes for 3 hours every weekday. It has taken some getting used to (for both August and myself....I miss him while he's gone)! For the most part, though, he loves it. He learns new things every day and came home last week with his first piece of refrigerator art (see above picture)!

We also recently visited the SEMO District Fair. August got to see the baby goats (and called them "dog").

Every day, August becomes more like a little boy and less like a baby. He is in a major "imitation" phase right now--he likes to talk on the phone and say "hello" and "okay, bye" just like Mommy and he will hold a Kleenex up to his nose and make a blowing sound. He also likes to type on the computer, dance to music, and yell at the dog. He's definitely walking like a pro and getting into EVERYTHING. After spending some time with him, most people will say "My, he certainly is BUSY!" And that is a perfect description--he rarely sits still.

Eric and I went to the MU/Illinois game and are very (cautiously) optimistic about this season. We are very excited about attending the MU/kU game in November. Go Tigers!
